DeskCake is a small tool designed to speed up your work regarding opening documents or applications. The program can instantly input text in documents, run programs, open any of your documents and visit your favorite website.
Configuring the program is very easy due to its simple and intuitive interface. You can group your actions into categories in order to find your way in a busy working environment. The program has some basic categories, like Auto Input Text, Windows Applications, Browse Website, Open folder, Send email, and Run. All these categories include some basic tasks, but you can add or remove items as you wish. You can even add or delete categories.
For example, in the "Browse Website", I have added a list of my favorite and most frequently visited Websites. Whenever I want to quickly open any of the Websites, I simply hit the default shortcut key (F12), which brings up the program from the system tray, click on the category and then on the Website. DeskCake opens the link for me using my default Web browser. Opening documents or starting applications is now quicker even than searching for that lost desktop icon.
Pluses: After configuring the program, all the settings can be saved in a database which can be backed up. You can also set the program to run applications from command line.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: A nice and smooth program, not so good looking, but very useful.
